DAY 17 THE LONGEST DAY

Leon streets.

Bridge in Hospital de Orbigo

Our picnic lunch stop.... a hard way to go on a picnic.

Yesterday we bussed from Burgus to Leon across the wide open plains of the Meseta. We saw pilgrims struggling along the endless tracks and we were happy we had bypassed this 180Km walk.
Leon was a beautiful and vibrant city and the monastry Albergue was quite charming the nuns blessed the pilgrims.
Today we have set out again first catching a bus through the burbs of Leon (info helpfully provided by the never to be found tourist info) After 15k through delightful country we changed our plan and decided to push on another 15k to Hospital de Orbigo. This has beeen a long day nearly 30k a bit too much for us so it will be early to bed after menu del dia at the local bar which does not serve food until 7pm in the usual Spanish way.

  1. Waiting until 7pm for something to eat would be tough enough.... even without the 30km walk.
    Love to you both

  2. We are eating pretty well with Peregrino meals...three courses..mixed salads and meat , deserts washed down with wine.. Some days walking you don.t feel like much....
